I pay insurance on this £8 a month i think after paying all that for 5 years i should automatically get a new one.

I've had a fair few desktop puters and lappies which died stone cold dead... so lost a lot of stuff. So I go a 1 tb external HD for pics n vids, then my OH backed that up on CDs. I sill use that for pics and vids. The 2 TB was a prezzie, I have some games on it, I have a complete backup of Burbles on it, and Im trying to figure out a way to use it as a local server, but without much luck affraid

I'm just using a piffling lil cheap Netbook so it doesn't have much storage.

I do now too, I lost a couple of pcs with irreplaceable photos on board and vowed never again, everything s backed up twice AND stored on the cloud thumbsup

No. I use 3TB on local external drives backed up by another 2TB on HDs in another part of the house. I don't trust clouds (spooks etc).

I'm a bit wary of cloud storage too, OH mainly takes care of storing stuff now, he has a whole stack of HDs, If the two external drives I use and his backups arent enough, tough. I have a friend who is a programmer/developer and she has back ups of back ups of backups of backups. Laughing

Poor sod, can be a lovely day and she is in a fleece jacket, her office/server room is freezingggg. My filing system leaves much to be desired Embarassed

No, don't click it. it means you have a virus. Do a scan with your anti-virus straight away!

Thanks I have just done a scan with Norton and also a free one with Wise care.
No unsavoury sites have been visited Henry...I am the only one who uses the laptop and I am innocent. Angelic

Last year my comp froze up and I suddenly got a message saying the Metropolitan police had seized my computer because "terrorist activity, illegal child porn and other unsavoury stuff had been found on computer" Shocked

They would however unfreeze it if I entered my cc details and paid them £150. The police said it was a well known scam but they had no idea how my comp was infected.

Norton takes up too much space and takes over your PC..it was free for a few months with this computer when i bought it...One of the first things i did was to remove it!..I run a free program and they are much better imo.

Yes Norton are rubbish. I have just downloaded another free one...'10bit advanced system care'...I have spent ages running all the security scans and things....I am still getting that message when I try to log in to somewhere though.

Everywhere else is OK though.
