Puters and shit.
I see many of you have enough storage space for the entire nations tax and benefits system!
Why ... what do you do with it?
I have a five hundred gig hard drive and some usb thingies but ... what do you lot do with all that space?
I'm running a desktop ... Ixtreme-M5800 quad core with a Linux operating system and right now my hard drive is virtually empty.

My hard drive on the laptop is virtually empty, but I have 10 years of photos on the external drive, and he has games seeing as he fills hard drives fairly regularly with them, but can't get rid even though he never plays them... Then I have some music lol

What operating system? On Windows 7/8 right click on the drive in Explorer and select properties.

You havent been able to get 1 gigabyte drives since about the late 90's - oh wait, yes, yours might be 1 gB after all.

This is a 1GB IBM hard drive from about 20 years ago. Does it look like that?

I don't have Vista but in might well be in Computer. Look for Local Disk (C:)
It says...Vista (c) 22.6 GB free of 55.6 GB
Data (e) 18.8 GB free of 54.6 GB
Does that mean i have a lot of space left?
Depends what you use it for. If it's just for web browsing, email and general stuff then it should be fine. If you're editing video probably not. You can create more free space by using disk cleanup
Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking Disk Cleanup.

Got nothing stored on here...no music and just a few photos.Last time it was in for repair PC World put back-up on it should i get rid of it? as i aint got a clue what's being backed up.
I've no idea, I don't know what it is.
You'd be well advised to find a small local repairer in future rather than PC World, they don't have the best reputation and can be expensive.
