Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck has been arrested over an allegation of child sex abuse dating back to the 1970s.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 73-year-old man was arrested in Kingston upon Thames on 26 April.
The entertainer and quiz show host - who has an OBE for services to showbusiness and charity - was released on bail pending further enquiries.
A police statement said he was questioned about an alleged assault on a young boy in the late 1970s.
Deeper and deeper it goes.

Christ knows Kaz. An arrest doesn't mean he's guilty but they must have something on him to have arrested him in the first place.

Somewhere there are bound to be band wagon jumpers who will be making false allegations.
What the police may have is just that from someone who can prove they were actually known to him at that time and may even have proof they had a meeting with him that day and if that's all they have then the poor sod gets tarred by the public cos there aint no smoke without fire attitude.
He's the most boring comedian I ever saw on the telly and fail to see how he remained so popular all these years.
I'm betting a lot of these people have made enemies over the years too as well as those who see a few quid as a possibility.
I wonder how they do go about proving such an accusation after so long, any physical evidence would be long gone so would it come to their word against his in the end unless like Stuart Hall they actually admit to what they are being charged with.
As for naming them, well I read something about that in the paper which suggested that it tends to encourage people who have been victims of that person to come forward who otherwise wouldn't have and apparently it is because of this that evidence has been found that has led to the accused being found guilty when otherwise they would have got away with it.
I suppose though it could also mean that someone with a grudge will also come forward and make a claim but then that is up to the police to investigate.

This is true.
Could be people jumping on the bandwagon or their could be evidence against them but whatever, the police have to take any accusations made seriously.

Well it came out that there had been complaints made against Jimmy Saville, so who knows, maybe it's the same for this lot.

It's a bit worrying if that is the case, especially if there are so many individual cases of it being ignored.
