I don't think so. Fading is almost inevitable with any hair colour but I suppose the brighter it is to begin with, the more the fading will be apparent.

It's a shame because it looks so nice and vibrant when it's first done. She had part of her hair dyed blue at one point but within a few days the blue was fading into a greeny colour although that actually wasn't too bad Laughing

I dye my own roots Dimples, I seldom go to the hairdressers to have it coloured....I tend to cut my own hair too unless I want a complete style change.
Its long and wavy, maybe I can get away with more than straight hair.

I have recently found a great product that temporarily retouches root growth between colourings.

How do you manage to do round the back, Syl? I don't think that would work for me at all. I have very fine hair but absolutely masses of it and it can be very difficult to work with.

Practice probably Dimples. I have thick hair too, I sort of section it off with a tail comb and just use the nozzle to go along the roots.
This is good for a temporary cover up.

I suppose it's just a case of re-doing it frequently. It may be that some brands use different pigments and that some may last a bit longer but the hair of the individual may also be a factor. For example, how porous the hair is may determine its ability to take colour well.
