I still get the odd urge for one but it passes quickly.
Anyone else managed to kick it?
I think that i probably could because i can take them or leave them but Doug said to me....That's my one pleasure and i don't want to give it up so i don't pressure him over it and will smoke socially with him and only have a few of an evening!

If he's ill what's he doing smoking is often the cry but ... it often is the only pleasure the ill person really has left.
I found smoking very pleasurable for a lifetime ... tried to pack it in a few times but was never really serious about it.
Then ... One of my grandkids who would have been eight at the time joined the school anti smoking club.
He started out bombarding me with all the facts the leaflets the bad news at first and was just irritating me but ... the teachers had warned them to look out for signs of irritating any of their family they were working on.
He changed tack and very intelligently asked me questions and said ... be honest with yourself granddad even if you can't be honest with me ....
The least I could do was be honest with a concerned and determined eight year old.
So really it's down to proving to an eight year old that even us old fcuks can be sensible and admit ... yes I'm killing myself slowly and you'll get a front row seat at my funeral probably way before you should.
Other wise I would have to say ... I don't give a hoot how my premature death is going to affect you.
This was all his doing ... clever stuff clever kid.
...Well good on you Jack for listening to him!...I can remember losing one of my grandfathers as a kid and it was awful for the whole family...but for kids it's far worse!

I am still puffing away...
I think I stopped just in time before getting the kind of ill health and complications DT now has.
My mum, dad and sister all gave up, so maybe.......... one day I will too.
They are going up virtually on a weekly basis now

My grandfather smoked a pipe and drank like a fish when he retired and lived into his 90's.
