Speculation over illegal drop from Tiger Woods

There is speculation today that Tiger Woods could be disqualified from the US Masters as officials review claims that he took an illegal drop during yesterday's second round at Augusta.

At the time, there was no hint of controversy when Woods returned to replay the shot from the same area, but in a press conference following the round - after he had signed for a one-under-par 71 - he admitted that he had dropped the ball further away from the original position, contravening US rules.

Tiger Woods' bid for a fifth Masters title remained alive today after he was given a two-shot penalty, rather than disqualification, according to reports.

The Golf Channel reported that Woods was penalised under rule 33-7, which covers a competitor unaware of a penalty returning a wrong score.

if he had any decency he should have stepped out of the masters.... wonder if anyone else would have received a penalty for this?

i think it was fair he obviously got confused
as he said outright in an interview his thought process
was a great tournamant tho
to come from behind all the way
and draw level on the last hole
then win the sudden death
is just the very best way to win a game of golf
and i was rootin for cabrera too
damn..
