Apparently some mother's are leaving the umbilical attached until it falls off naturally after birth... Shocked

Now I have understanding of being as close to natural as possible... But hey I watched the cat give birth and even SHE got rid of the mucky bit ASAP...Albeit I don't fancy chewing through it either sick where in nature is it natural to leave it, and I hope to goodness I don't pass this doing the shopping!
