Dyeing your own hair

I've just done it!! First time since I was a teenager, and it looks alright... I'm now wondering how salon's can justify the prices they charge?!!
Do you do your's yourself??

The couple of times I've done it, I have done it myself yeah. I always do my daughters hair though, she seems happy enough with it.

Before the day's of foils. They never looked that bad tbh... I wouldn't have the bottle now. I've gone for an all over light brown, nice n simple. It's all shiney at the moment, I hope that lasts!! If not, I can just do it again, for £3.50!! Dyeing your own hair 2964473237

Hubby's BROTHER still pays through the nose for highlights... It's the whole denying he's a ging issue though whistle

I occasionally dye mine myself, usually when the sun catches my greys Shocked

last time was October and I never hide the fact, it's not that I have loads of grey but I hide what I do, mother in law was appalled I would tell people it was dyed Dunno

guessing that's because she still hides that she does the same roflmao

How old were you when you started to notice them Kaz?? I've got a few already. Shocked

I only see them in certain light and nobody else can see them (or at least they say they can't) but knowing they're there is quite depressing!! I'm only 34...

And LOL at your brother in law and the highlights!! Theres not much worse than a bloke with highlights...

Probably 36 ish but it's still just a few, my mum has never dyed hers and she's by no means grey at 66 BUT she's a lighter brown, the dark hair I worry about it's more obvious..they shine up.

My cousin was white by 25 though!!

They're more common than I first realised. Since finding my own I've started looking for them in other people, lol... "Oh thats good, she's younger than me and got a few".... Pathetic I know!!

I always have my colour done at the hairdresser because I don't have my entire hair re-dyed. She only applies it to the new growth and that would be impossible to do myself. I have that done every 6-8 weeks.

If however I was dying it a completely new colour and was doing all of my hair, then yes, I might consider dying it myself.

Last time I dyed my own hair I was 14, me and a mate both decided to go platinum blonde, she was Arabian and I'm half Greek... so both quite dark. Result she went orange and mine turned brussel sprout green.........

I would probably use one of these do it yourself dyes, now I'm over the trauma, but I have three or four shades streaked into my hair, too complicated to do myself.

I have always coloured my own hair.
As a teenager it was to stand out from the crowd.......these days it is more to blend in with them. Laughing

The last time I dyed my own hair was when the Lad was a baby . I did it when he was having his afternoon sleep, it came out much darker usual. He cried and cried when he saw me when I went to get him up. I must have looked a bit different. Oh the Trauma!

I have it done like Dimples now every 6 weeks or so.

I dye my own roots Dimples, I seldom go to the hairdressers to have it coloured....I tend to cut my own hair too unless I want a complete style change.
Its long and wavy, maybe I can get away with more than straight hair.

I have recently found a great product that temporarily retouches root growth between colourings.

Does anyone know if there is a way to stop red dye from fading? My daughter loves to dye hers bright red but it isn't long before it fades.

How do you manage to do round the back, Syl? I don't think that would work for me at all. I have very fine hair but absolutely masses of it and it can be very difficult to work with.
