Coalition face votes carnage Empty Coalition face votes carnage

THE Coalition faces carnage in next month’s local elections, a study suggests today.
Tories are set to lose 380 councillors — a quarter of their 1,450 seats up for grabs — and the control of 11 councils.
And 110 Lib Dems face the axe — nearly a quarter of the 480 seats they are defending.

The figures, based on a YouGov poll, are worse than the parties feared. A Tory insider said last night: “It’s alarming. Nearly two-thirds of those voting are in our heartlands.”
Some 2,480 seats in 35 English councils are up for grabs on May 2.
But more than one in four who voted Tory in 2010 would not do so now, YouGov found. Three-quarters of deserters will back UKIP. It could see Tories lose prized councils such as Lancashire — Labour for 28 years until 2009 — as well as Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Tories could also lose eight councils to no overall control. Labour and UKIP are poised to do well, says Plymouth Uni’s Prof Colin Rallings. Labour, on 240 seats, could win an extra 370. And UKIP, on ten, could raise that to 50.
A Labour source said: “If we won 200 seats it would be an outstanding result.”

.....Sounds good to me cheers ....They deserve a good drubbing and yet further proof that the rise of UKIP will do nothing but to eat into the Tory vote which will lead to an overall majority for Labour at the next election IMO!
