I support their protest and their right to protest. I believe in freedom and democracy.

That is what its all about, now they are talking of silencing the bells of Big Ben as happened with Winston Churchill`s funeral, to try and equate Magaret Thatcher to Winston Churchill

I support peoples right to protest too, I also support peoples right to be buried or cremated without the disruption that these protesters will cause, and would have caused even if she had a low key funeral.
Possibly, but a private funeral would have been a damn sight easier to police - and cheaper too.

One of the stupidest things I've seen you say on forums.Syl wrote:No I blame idiots who are and will be protesting in such an unrespectful way.Henry wrote:If Cameron wasn't riding on Thatcher's back in order to court popularity by having this ridiculous overblown funeral then what would there be to protest against? Probably they were brought up by football hooligans or dole scroungers.
This says more about the idiots who will be causing disruption than Thatcher, Cameron or anyone else they want to blame for their actions.
I do agree that the funeral should be more low key though.
Many will be cops and ex cops believe it or not ... councilors ex councilors hard working people and managers.
People of those who lost love ones to suicide at the times people who were thrown in prison or had loved ones thrown in.
I'm hoping those with a grievance still tell the whole world loud and clear that this woman does not desrve this funeral or this bullshit heroine creation.

.....One of my mates is a white van man and was delivering fish to restaurants in the west end at the time that the rehearsal was going on...

I was watching the horse drawn gun carriage bit, was fascinated by the horse that wanted to turn around.. I am usually caught up in ceremony and cry buckets, it just isn't happening with this one though.Dimples wrote:It's quiet in here. Are you all glued to the television watching the funeral?

It was good to see that most who opposed her or disliked her had the good grace and common decency not to disrupt her funeral and allowed it to pass off in an appropriate way.
I think that says a great deal for the genuine good in most people, that however negatively they perceived her, today was not the occasion to display it publicly.
I didn't like the woman nor do I think she deserved that kind of funeral with the costs involved but I will concede her historical significance in the fact that she so far was this country's ONLY female Prime Minister. For that in the face of a very male dominated profession she deserves some respect.

In his address, the Bishop of London made the very salient point that not only was her achievement in progressing in the field of politics as a woman a remarkable achievement at that time, but it was all the more so because she was a working woman with children.
If nothing else I suppose she gave women everywhere a kick up the arse to go and and get what you want out of life.
